This is what it takes to get an approved retail used car license and get started selling cars as a licensed dealer.
1) Budget of at least $10,000
- $3,000 to $5,000 for the licensing process.
- $5,000 and up for inventory.
- $3,000 and up for a mentor for a year.
2) An acceptable criminal background (if applicable).
3) An office and possibly a display space (varies by state)
4) Pre-licensing class (varies by state)
5) A Dealer Bond
6) Incorporate a business such as LLC or INC
7) Renew your license every 1, 2 or 3 years (varies by state)
